Panini Generation

The Panini generation

A name for the millions of adults pressed between caring for children and caring for aging parents, at the same time, without a net and without a roadmap.

Julia S. Beck introduced the Panini Generation to name what 73 million Americans are living inside right now — the simultaneous compression of multi-generational caregiving, without the infrastructure to hold it.

The framework is the subject of the forthcoming book The Panini Not Ordered, under contract with Maria Shriver Media. It is the scaffolding for a lexicon — terms like The Melt Point, Mode Switching, and The Fingers Crossed Model — that gives language to what had previously gone unnamed.
